David Shannon

David B. Shannon is a Senior Associate with our firm, working exclusively with David E. Appel, Managing Partner. He is a 1999 graduate of Syracuse University, where he obtained a Bachelors degree in Speech Communication and English.

Dave entered the life insurance business in January 2001 in Raleigh, North Carolina, where his goal was to build long-lasting relationships with individuals and small businesses while helping them avoid the problems that arise from an untimely death or disability. While in Raleigh, Dave worked with a clientele that consisted of pre and post-retirees, as well as family-owned businesses.

In Dave’s first year in the insurance business, he earned the "Rookie of the Year" award for the insurer with whom he was affiliated. This award is given to the top-producing agent for the company with less than three years of industry experience. While he was personally producing, David was also a two-time qualifying member of the international Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT). Dave was also an active Member of the Raleigh Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.

Prior to joining David E. Appel at Goldwasser-Appel Insurance Advisors, Dave spent three years as an external insurance executive representing a Fortune 500 insurance company throughout New England. In this role, David worked with financial advisors, attorneys, CPAs, and wealth managers implementing estate and business insurance planning strategies for individuals and business owners.
